The Athletics Building Supervisor / Front Desk Monitor is responsible for monitoring access to the building as well as ensuring a safe environment for those utilizing the facilities. Employee will be assigned to either the Williamson Sports Center or the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center.
The Building Supervisor / Front Desk Monitor will respond to emergencies within the building and will communicate directly with Campus Safety and the Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation staff as necessary regarding emergencies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing security and ensuring a safe environment for those utilizing the facilities within the Williamson Sports Center and McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center
- Unlocking/locking of both buildings and the outdoor tennis courts depending on assigned shift
- Assist with event set-up and break-down as assigned and provide oversight for student-workers assisting with the set-up or break-down of events, including those assigned to the cardio/weight rooms
- Provide general knowledge of events scheduled within the buildings
- Some clerical tasks as assigned
Employee must be able to interact effectively with staff from the Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation, Counseling Center, Health Services and Health Promotions.
Employee must engage users of the facility and direct users to appropriate spaces within the buildings. Interact closely with athletic staff, students, faculty, tour groups, visiting teams and visitors to campus (facility rentals). Will act as a liaison with Campus Safety.
Employee must have the maturity to be able to make judgement calls regarding a variety of potential building situations (e.g. asking someone to leave the premises if misusing the facilities). Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to defuse potentially volatile situations that may arise and know when to alert Campus Safety to assist with situation.
Education: High School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience:
- High degree of reliability
- High degree of maturity with sound judgement and decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with friendly demeanor
- Ability to work morning, evening and/or weekend hours
Typical work includes walking around the building and some light lifting when assignment includes a set-up or break-down
Pay rate: $16.00 per hour
