General Purpose Plans, arranges for, and coordinates the company's power generation and interchange scheduling with adjoining systems and other members of various power pools. Monitors system operations and adjusts operational activities accordingly. Schedules sales, purchases, storage and wheeling with other utilities.
Responsibilities for this position include the following: - Monitor future and real-time resource conditions and evaluate fuel requirements.
- Monitor compliance with contracts and operational plans.
- Monitor system operations and adjust operational activities accordingly.
- Determine available surplus energy and schedule sales, purchases, storage, and wheeling with other utilities.
- Verify availability and purchasing transmission through third party OASIS sites.
- Pre-schedule energy trading and generation control and set an operational plan.
- Plan the company's hourly interchange scheduling with adjoining systems and other members of various power pools.
- Review system positions and adjust proposed operational plans accordingly.
- Determine appropriate scheduling procedures for legacy contracts and schedule accordingly.
- Create NERC eTags using MCG IAM tagging system.
- Monitor and verify the approval of all NERC eTags.
- Communicate with traders and trading counterparties to complete scheduling.
- Ensure that all counterparty volume information associated with wholesale power transactions are accurately reflected in the Energy Trading System and IAM. Resolve any discrepancies with traders and counterparties in a timely manner to meet required deadlines.
In addition to the above, Mid-level responsibilities include:
- Identify new revenue producing arrangements with other systems.
- Monitor compliance with contracts and operational plans and determine appropriate action as needed.
- Plan the company's power generation and interchange scheduling with adjoining systems and other members of various power pools.
- Monitor system operations and adjust operational activities accordingly.
- Coordinate and schedule hourly power generation, sales, purchases, storage, and wheeling.
- Undesignate network resources to facilitate off-system
Requirements for this position include the following: - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Analysis and evaluation skills for monitoring resource conditions and compliance with contracts and operational plans.
- Basic knowledge of power and fuel contracts, pooling arrangements and licenses, power production installations and their interactions.
- Communication and interpersonal skills for communicating requirements and establishing effective working relationships with dispatches or other entities, in order to ensure optimal transmission and coordination of maintenance.
- Knowledge of Company policies practices procedures, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
In addition to the above, Mid-level responsibilities include:
- A minimum of three years of experience with scheduling or dispatching activities.
- Knowledge of power and fuel contracts, pooling arrangements and licenses, power production installations and their interactions.
- Knowledge of company policies practices procedures, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Proficient with the use of computer applications and automated tools to support trading activities.
Preferences - Three years of experience in electric utility system operations, power marketing or power scheduling.
- Knowledge of the WECC transmission grid, power plants, market hubs, and interchange points between companies.
- Experience with electronic tagging and associated NERC and WECC policies and business practices.
- Process management skills for monitoring all facets of utility system operation.
