Description
Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous improvement and lean principles to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiencies within the team.
- Lead operational initiatives to establish a safe work environment, ensure high-quality production, and implement lean strategies that minimize costs, inventory, and lead times.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards, making sure all team members adhere to established procedures and best practices.
- Optimize the use of labor, materials, and equipment to efficiently achieve production goals and maintain schedules.
- Cultivate a positive, solutions-oriented team culture through regular meetings, effective task delegation, team empowerment, and collaboration with support services.
- Develop strategies to boost team engagement, performance, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Manage scheduling, including vacation and overtime, to align with operational demands.
- Mentor and train team members to identify challenges, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Encourage cross-training to enhance workforce flexibility and ensure smooth operations within work cells.
- Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, offering guidance, coaching, and hands-on leadership to your team.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, or a related discipline is required.
- 5-10 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience in plastics extrusion, assembly processes, or comparable manufacturing techniques is highly preferred.
- A strong background in lean manufacturing with a proven ability to drive cost savings and enhance processes.
- Proficient in using lean tools to address complex challenges and optimize operations.
- Willingness to adapt schedules and work additional hours as needed to meet business requirements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop supervisors and team leaders.
- Experience in a unionized environment is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as JD Edwards, SAP, or similar platforms for inventory management is essential.
