My client is seeking a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Supervisor. This role involves leading a team of machine operators to ensure safety, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity while promoting teamwork and continuous improvement. The 2nd shift runs from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Champion continuous improvement and lean principles to drive enhancements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost across the team.
- Lead operational initiatives to create a safe work environment, ensure high-quality output, and implement lean strategies that reduce costs, inventories, and lead times.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards, including adherence to procedures and standard work by all team members.
- Optimize labor, materials, and equipment utilization to meet production goals and schedules efficiently.
- Foster a positive, solutions-driven team culture through regular meetings, task delegation, team empowerment, and collaboration with support services.
- Develop strategies to enhance team engagement, performance, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Manage scheduling, including vacation and overtime, to meet operational needs.
- Mentor and train team members to identify challenges, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Promote cross-training to maximize workforce flexibility and ensure seamless work cell operations.
- Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, providing guidance, coaching, and hands-on leadership to your team.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field is required.
- 5-10 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with plastics extrusion, assembly processes, or similar manufacturing methods is highly desirable.
- Strong background in lean manufacturing with a proven track record of driving cost reductions and process improvements.
- Skilled in using lean tools to solve complex problems and improve operations.
- Flexibility to adjust schedules and work additional hours as needed to meet business demands.
- Exceptional communication and leadership abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to mentor and develop supervisors and team leaders.
- Experience working in a unionized environment is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with ERP systems like JD Edwards, SAP, or similar platforms for inventory management is essential.
