Facility in Coos Bay, OR seeking Physician Assistant Orthopedic locums coverage Rates: $150/hr Job Details - Practice Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient, Emergency Department, Orthopedic Surgery.
- Schedule:
- Work Week: Sunday-Saturday.
- Full-time role with participation in call coverage (weekday, weekend, and holiday shifts).
- On-call duties: First response for orthopedic care in the Emergency Department and inpatient units.
- Credentialing: Minimum 60 days; requires NPDB self-query and CAQH login/password.
Responsibilities - Patient Management:
- Prepare and record patient history.
- Develop and implement care plans.
- Conduct hospital rounds and document findings.
- Evaluate clinical conditions and implement therapeutic plans.
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
- Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and order entry.
- Diagnostic Procedures:
- EMG, EKG, compartment pressure measurements, and imaging studies (X-ray, CT, MRI, etc.).
- Therapeutic Procedures:
- Joint and bursa aspirations.
- Minor wound care and surgical procedures (e.g., tendon repair, debridement, hardware removal).
- Splint, brace, and cast applications.
- Incision and drainage, trigger point injections, and fracture/dislocation reductions.
- Surgical Assistance:
- First assist in orthopedic surgeries.
- Tissue closure, appliance application, and other delegated tasks.
- Call Coverage:
- Provide primary orthopedic call.
- Respond to emergency department consults and inpatient referrals.
- Participate in 24-hour and holiday call rotations.
Skills and Qualifications - Education/Certification:
- Board Certification: Required.
- Oregon license preferred; must meet criteria for Medical Staff/Allied Health Professional membership.
- NPDB self-query submission: Required.
- Certifications: BLS/ACLS.
- Experience:
- Proficiency in performing diagnostic/therapeutic orthopedic procedures.
- Prior experience with Epic EMR is a plus.
- Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and effectively in stressful/emergent situations.
- 4 hours of unpaid Epic training required (testing out option available).
