The technical writer will edit existing documentation, create new documentation, develop supplemental graphics, and support SharePoint site development. A candidate with SharePoint design experience will have a high impact on the project's success.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The position of Technical Writer with SharePoint Experience is responsible for editing a variety of technical materials related to security-related processes and project management for consumption by organizational units within the company. This will involve collaborating with subject matter experts to edit and transform complex technical concepts into user-friendly documentation on SharePoint that supports the tools and processes related to Information Security governance and compliance efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comprehensively review and edit existing documentation to improve clarity, conciseness, and coherence.
- Supplement technical content with the creation of diagrams, flowcharts, and other visual aids.
- Assist in the development and design of SharePoint web page templates that support a content type (e.g., how-to guide, case study, FAQ, best practices, etc.).
- Provide best practice guidance to project stakeholders on all aspects of content management, including versioning, information architecture, and taxonomy.
- Suggest opportunities to extend or improve existing team workflows within SharePoint when applicable.
KEY SKILLS
- At least five years' experience creating technical documentation or training materials for software, consumer electronics, or networking products.
- Extensive hands-on experience using MS SharePoint Online and SharePoint Designer.
- Proficient in developing graphics.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms.
- Working knowledge of industry-standard structured writing principles.
- Strong organizational, communications, research, and time management skills.
- Ability to interact skillfully and professionally with subject matter experts and other colleagues.
