Summary:
As an Epic Inpatient Sr. Application Analyst, you will serve as the primary support contact for specific Epic Inpatient applications, playing a crucial role in the organization's operational health and project success. Reporting to the IT Manager and through extensive collaboration with all Epic application teams, and various stakeholders in multiple clinical departments, you will have a crucial role in the transition to Epic. This position involves a mix of operational experience, project management, and organizational skills, ensuring that project teams remain focused, and that the Epic system aligns with the organization's business needs and supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Epic certification in Inpatient Clinical Documentation or Inpatient Procedure Orders is required. ASAP, Stork, Clinical Case Management, Behavioral Health, Inpatient Rehab, Wound, or Bugsy certification is a plus.
Responsibilities:
The HCS Epic Inpatient Sr. Application Analyst focuses on people through:
- Supporting essential clinical operations in an inpatient setting, with expertise in clinical documentation, Ordering, Clinical Case Management, Women's Health, Wound care, Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, or Infection control systems.
- Providing mentorship and sharing experience and expertise with customers and colleagues, demonstrating critical and systems thinking
- Providing a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that continually improves outcomes, reduces cost, increases efficiency, and enhances patients' experiences. Primary responsibilities include collaborating with clinicians and end users of the system to design, build, test, train, implement, evaluate, and maintain Epic and other associated systems.
The HCS Epic Inpatient Sr. Application Analyst focuses on Quality & Value by:
- Demonstrates proficiency or advanced functional knowledge of Epic, applicable third-party solutions, and the Microsoft suite of products.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with all stakeholders; meets with customers and sponsors to capture business & technical requirements.
- Demonstrates knowledge of processes within the facility department; assesses workflow processes, identifies gaps, defines necessary process changes, and develops future workflows related to the implementation of new solutions or functionality.
- Designs, builds, and configures within assigned Epic system modules and any supporting third- party applications; develops and maintains system process documentation and outlines process steps using appropriate tools; identifies and implements requested changes to the system.
- Designs and develops test scripts and materials for end-to-end workflow testing; Performs unit, system, and integration testing per standards, including negative and regression testing; documents outcomes.
- Remains current on industry trends and vendor/application/system updates. Ensures that all software modifications/upgrades are working according to Epic specifications.
- Follows departmental standards for software configuration control, quality assurance, and version releases; Provides documentation on system upgrades and new releases of Epic applications; provides training if required.
- Troubleshoots issues or system deficiencies and initiates escalation procedures with minimal supervision as required. Provides recommendations for resolution of the problems found.
- Participates in or leads multiple cross-functional projects; Understands project planning and coordination methodologies using project management skills, tools, and lean methodologies. Communicates project status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, and upcoming milestones.
- Provides guidance and acts as a resource for other analysts and consultants.
- Actively participates in project, team, departmental, and other meetings as required. Reports status updates, accomplishments, tasks, and any barriers to the manager.
- Participates in the on-call responsibilities in support of a 24hrs/7days production systems environment; acts as the primary support contact for the application's end-users.
- Collaborating with Leadership in efforts to support clinical transformation via continuously improving integration, especially across ISD teams, project teams, and all sources of patient data.
- Providing feedback directly to team members

Portfolio Liaison responsibilities:
- Epic: 9 modules
- Non-Epic: 3 applications
Other Information Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Epic certification in Inpatient Clinical Documentation or Inpatient Procedure Orders is required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
If a Bachelor's degree: Four (4) years of experience with IT systems and/or related operational experience.
If an Associate's degree: Six (6) years of IT systems and/or related operational experience.
If a High School diploma or GED: Eight (8) years of IT systems and/or related operational experience.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Excellent analytical and communication skills. Ability to work well in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Highly responsive to internal customers.
