MBA Consulting Services, Inc. (CSi) is seeking a detail-oriented and business process-driven Technical Writer to support our government customer in Merrifield, VA. In this full-time, exempt position, you will be working closely with the Engineering Department of the US Postal Service to create precise and clear documentation critical to their operations.
As a Technical Writer, your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with a variety of technical project and program managers to gather procedural information and transform it into essential documentation, including SOPs, guidance policies, installation instructions, and other project management and engineering materials. Your work will be instrumental in supporting the success of critical engineering initiatives.
Initially, this role requires you to be onsite at the USPS Engineering HQ in Merrifield, VA five days per week. After a six-month period, the client will evaluate the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid schedule, which would require at least three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the evaluation of technical and functional requirements
- Prepare Statements of Work (SOW) for major programs
- Develop training and communication methods to the field
- Elicit business and technical processes from managers
- Document processes and procedures
- Document program management processes and create presentations on them
- Prepare, review and edit software release documentation including software requirements specifications, software design documentation, and requirements traceability matrixes
- Develop project schedules
- Consolidate and coordinate cost estimates into a standard template for business cases
- Develop cost estimates to help justify internal project investment
- Assist Technology Acquisition Management and other departments in Engineering in conducting equipment evaluations, reviews, and participate in field tests
- Develop and document tracking and deployment procedures for new equipment installed in the field
- Track and deploy production equipment to the Field. Assist in resolving issues
- Provide technical and procedural guidance
- Prepare formal letters, reports, summaries detailing program management activities.
- Prepare and distribute work product documents to end customers
- Write, and update technical specifications for automation equipment procurement
- Provide program management & documentation support for TAPM related products and modifications
- Provide general program management support documentation such as presentations, charts, and diagrams
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in area of specialty
- 8+ years of experience
- Technical writer and editor skilled in writing standards, specifications, instruction manuals, report publications and brochures.
- Experience using MS Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Access, MS Office 2010, MS Project, and Visio) and specialized software programs
- Candidate must be able to sit, stand and work at a computer for prolonged periods
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
