Who We Are:
We are seeking a highly-motivated intern to join our team in solving unique problems for the United States Government by participating in the mechanical design, fabrication and testing of complex devices and systems in a R&D environment.
Objectives of this Role:
- Our student engineers work for and alongside full-time Engineers, Scientists, and Technicians.
- Students are exposed to a wide variety of technical areas and given the opportunity to develop innovative solutions that meet project requirements.
- Assist with mechanical design, fabrication, and testing on a variety of technical challenges.
- Summer 2025 position.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Assist in mechanical designs utilizing SolidWorks and other engineering tools.
- Resolve a variety of engineering issues during design, fabrication, and testing.
- Perform market research, specify equipment and parts, design mechanical components, generate drawings for fabrication, and plan and perform experiments.
- Regularly communicate work status with engineering and technical staff.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on technical challenges.
- Compile and summarize test data. Prepare technical presentations.
- Explore new technologies and engineering tools that may benefit existing programs.
Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related Engineering degree field.
- 0 years: Must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior level student.
- SolidWorks or similar solid modeling program coursework.
- ANSYS Structural or similar FEA software.
- Interest and experience fabricating, assembling and troubleshooting mechanical parts and assemblies.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
