Job Description:The Team Leader, Absence Claims Management, is responsible for leading a team of Absence Management Case Managers to achieve results within the team and the organization. This role involves setting objectives, communicating progress, and holding staff accountable for quality assurance, turnaround time, operational efficiency, and best practice standards. The Team Leader will assist staff with career development and progression, encourage candor, and challenge the status quo to continuously improve operations. Collaboration with internal cross-functional areas for program direction, goal setting, service delivery, and action plan development is essential.
Responsibilities:- Ensure accurate adjudication of FMLA, STD, State, and PFL claims according to plan provisions and guidelines.
- Manage and resolve issues related to claim administration, cost containment, reports, quality control, and complex customer issues.
- Enhance the overall customer experience by working with external clients.
- Communicate team status and performance to leadership.
You Will:- Partner with leadership to develop and communicate team objectives and performance goals.
- Manage direct reports' performance through coaching and performance improvement plans.
- Develop employee goals to promote career growth and enhance knowledge.
- Collaborate with internal business partners including Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Service, Sales, and Account Management.
- Create action plans based on employee engagement survey results.
- Review and analyze reports on team productivity to identify trends and training opportunities.
- Own client relationships and address service issues.
- Prioritize the customer/client experience in daily interactions.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Empower staff to submit process improvement ideas.
- Support claims initiatives and act as a change leader for project rollouts.
- Schedule and facilitate team meetings and individual touchpoints.
- Mentor, coach, supervise, and develop direct reports.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant disability work experience; integrated absence management preferred.
- 5+ years of disability claims experience.
- 3+ years of demonstrated leadership experience.
- Extensive knowledge of disability products, business rules, and procedures.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Proven organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent math aptitude and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Estimated Min Rate: $60,000
Estimated Max Rate: $70,000
