Position Purpose/Summary
We are looking for an energetic and experienced Cash Applications Specialist to join our finance team. We process high volumes of cash transactions and remittance advices and reconcile items from various systems and entities. As part of our team, you will post payments to the Company's billing system, assist in the reconciliation of account receivables, research and posting of unapplied deposits, and assist in the collection management processes. This position involves creating and presenting monthly reports to the Corporate Controller and CFO and helping to make sure the Company adheres to relevant regulations. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem-solver who can collaborate effectively on larger teams, possesses accurate data entry skills, and high attention to detail.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Process and apply daily customer payments, including checks, ACH/wire transfers, credit card transactions, and lockbox deposits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Reconcile and research discrepancies related to customer payments, including overpayments, short payments, misapplied payments, and unidentified funds.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Billing, Collections, and Customer Service to resolve payment- related inquiries and ensure account accuracy.
- Maintain accurate records of all cash applications and adjustments within the accounting system.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and reporting and collaboration with the Cash Accountant.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to cash applications.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in cash application workflows.
- Stay updated on industry's best practices and company policies regarding cash application and accounts receivable processes.
- Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 2+ years of experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, or a related finance role preferred
- Strong understanding of payment processing methods, including ACH, credit cards, and lockbox transactions.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage high volumes of transactions accurately.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
