Job Description: The Patient Support Specialist (PSS) plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of our patients at the Center. Core Competencies: Exhibits empathy and compassion in all patient and family interactions Supports patient independence and choice in care Demonstrates strong communication skills and promotes teamwork Commits to delivering high-quality patient care Embraces accountability and personal ownership in teamwork Position Responsibilities: Recognize and respond to the varying needs of patients and their families Communicate any changes in a patient's condition to the appropriate nursing staff Follow Safe Patient Handling guidelines, ensuring a no-manual-lift environment Engage in Quality Improvement initiatives Assist patients with personal care tasks as outlined in their care plans Document care provided in the patient's electronic medical record Report any incidents or accidents immediately, including observed or suspected patient abuse Monitor and report on skin integrity Participate in daily team meetings and care planning sessions as required Capably obtain vital signs and perform procedures like temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure measurements, and specimen collection as directed Adhere to infection control protocols Attend training and educational opportunities on an ongoing basis Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy according to HIPAA regulations Communicate effectively with peers, team members, patients, and families Facilitate enjoyable life enrichment activities for patient engagement Ensure cleanliness in patient rooms and common areas Prepare and assist with meal services, including clean-up tasks Contribute to committee meetings and perform other assigned duties as trained Qualifications: For long-term chronic care and MCU positions: Certified Nursing Assistant certification preferred upon hire, or current enrollment in a nursing program with completion of the first clinical experience. For RSU positions: Certified Nursing Assistant certification required upon hire and must remain in good standing. Fluency in English, both verbal and written, required Computer literacy is essential Ability to work both independently and collaboratively is necessary Must complete mandatory educational requirements and programs as defined by HSL/HRC Remote Type: Salary Range: $15.00 - $28.00
