A full-time Occupational Therapist role is available within the Durham Public Schools district, located in the Research Triangle area of Durham, NC. This contract position offers an opportunity to provide specialized OT services primarily to elementary-aged students as part of FMLA coverage. The assignment begins ASAP and extends through at least December 2025, with potential continuation into January following the school calendar. Key Responsibilities: Deliver tailored occupational therapy interventions to support students' development and academic success. Collaborate with educators, families, and school staff to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in compliance with school policies and state regulations. Participate in meetings and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care. Qualifications: Active North Carolina Occupational Therapist license is mandatory. Experience working within school settings, preferably supporting elementary-aged children. Strong knowledge of educational regulations and pediatric occupational therapy interventions. Ability to pass or obtain the NC Department of Early Education (NCDEE) background check; application should be initiated promptly upon placement. COTA candidates will not be considered for this role. Location & Schedule: On-site position with no remote or hybrid options; work is based fully in schools within Durham Public Schools. Full-time commitment of 37.5 hours per week. Number of assigned schools and specific caseload details to be determined.
