Job Description
- The Sr Project Controls Manager will oversee all project control functions within the portfolio of Workplace Projects Mexico, including schedule development and control, change management, risk analysis, cost management, and performance reporting for large-scale construction projects.
- The role includes on-site execution and quality monitoring in coordination with Construction and Engineering teams to ensure execution excellence. By enabling data-driven decision-making, this position ensures projects are delivered within approved projects framework, required quality standards and organization strategies, while maintaining full governance compliance through rigorous planning, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
Core Responsibilities
Schedule Monitoring and Control
- Develop and maintain the integrated Project Master Plan, consolidating project schedules (Level 1–4) and key turning points from all project streams.
- Ensure adherence to the project Master Plan across the PM company, General Contractor, and all project streams, identifying deviations that may impact the overall project timeline.
- Advanced proficiency in project planning tools, including Microsoft Project, to support schedule integration, monitoring and analysis.
- Develop and maintain projects critical path and logic networks, ensuring clear visibility of project sequencing, dependencies and key achievements.
- Perform critical path and float analysis, to identify schedule risks and potential delays, communicating impacts to project partners.
- Collaborate with Construction and Engineering teams to monitor deliverables and ensure key achievements for equipment and materials are achieved on time.
- Translate schedule data into clear charts, dashboards and reports to support projects supervising, communication, and decision-making.
- Facilitate risk reviews and recovery planning discussions to support mitigation of potential delays.
Construction execution and quality monitoring
- Supervise construction execution progress and quality-related activities to identify potential impacts to the project schedule and overall project performance.
- Coordinate with Construction Managers, Engineering teams, and stream owners to ensure construction achievements and deliverables are properly reflected in the project schedule.
- Supervise construction completion status, punch list closure, commissioning and handover readiness to ensure alignment with the approved project achievements.
Cost & Change Management
- Monitor cost performance and budget adherence across the projects, identifying potential risks or deviations linked to schedule performance and execution progress.
- Monitor schedule performance and construction progress to proactively identify potential impacts that may lead to change orders, or scope adjustments.
- Support the Commercial Manager in budget monitoring and financial forecasting across project phases by providing schedule performance insights.
Risk & Opportunity Management
- Identify schedule related risks and opportunities through proactive schedule monitoring and adherence to the Project Master Plan.
- Facilitate schedule mitigations dialogues to ensure critical path tasks are never missed.
- Contribute to schedule risk analysis activities to help forecast schedule contingencies and related cost impacts.
Reporting & Governance
- Prepare regular project controls reports for executive leadership and key partners.
- Lead progress reviews, schedule updates and trend analysis to ensure transparency in project performance
- Produce internal status reports highlighting schedule performance, critical path status, and key risks requiring management attention.
- Promote project controls standard processes and provide mentorship within the project team to strengthen planning and monitoring capabilities.
Do you have what it takes?
- Proven experience in International or multinational project environments in roles such Construction Supervision Lead, Construction Senior Manager, Project Controls Manager or similar role.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Project, resources management, project baselines and Critical Path development and analysis.
- Proven expertise in qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, schedule risk assessment, and prioritization.
- Ability to develop critical metrics, dashboards, and executive-level reports to support data-driven decision-making.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC) and compliance frameworks (e.g., PMI methodology).
