COMPANY: National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak)
TITLE: Principal Software Engineer
LOCATION: Washington, D.C. and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S. (remote position)
DUTIES: Analyze, design, develop, and install software solutions. Provide technical oversight throughout project lifecycle. Work closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements. Drive analysis and technical solution design. Lead technical direction by following documented development methodology. Ensure unit testing regimen delivers code per designs. Collaborate internally to integrate applications and hardware. Create and update documentation to confirm architecture, user, design, and other documents describing the as‐deployed system. Ensure development teams follow applicable standards for methodologies, integration, tools, and testing. Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming. Follow information security standards. Review modules for quality assurance (QA) and check compliance with application architecture standards and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Provide ongoing application maintenance.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field followed by seven (7) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Principal Software Engineer or any occupation related to Software Development. Must also have three (3) years of experience: 1) designing, developing, deploying, and supporting solutions, customizations, and extensions for Maximo and Maximo Mobile solutions using Maximo API/MIF, SQL, Java / J2EE, Eclipse, SVN, Artifactory, and ANT; and 2) developing applications and mobile applications using .Net, Windows Mobile SDK, Antenna SDK, SQL Express, SQL Lite, Interlock Informer Mobility Platform, and Android SDK. Must also have one (1) year of experience designing, developing, and supporting IOS-based mobile applications, including UI / UX design, usability, technical support, functional support, and hardware deployment. All experience may be acquired concurrently. Remote work permitted in accordance with standard company policy. All positions require pre-employment background check verification and a pre-employment drug screen.
SALARY: $165,173 per year
