Position Summary
The Associated Press is in search of an enthusiastic Technology Specialist to join our dynamic Technology team to provide mission-critical support of AP users, external clients, and production systems and technical equipment in our Washington, DC office.
The role is Monday – Friday and may require working extended hours (nights, weekends, public holidays) and occasionally working on special events outside of the office. Travel may be required, sometimes on a short notice.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert support of office systems and technical equipment, networks, UPSs, generators, Fire Pre-Action, Security, and HVAC systems.
- Work with all technical teams to ensure satellite offices are up and running.
- Pro-active system health monitoring and system maintenance.
- Testing software and patches before deployment.
- Participate in global rollouts and special projects.
- Handle mobile devices orders and upgrades.
- Provide support for convergent broadcast & IT technologies, AV technology in all conference rooms.
- Provide comprehensive documentation, and user training.
- Detail all work carried out using a centralized ticketing system.
Required Qualifications:
- Must possess excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, be proactive and able to work on own initiative and have technical experience working in a broadcast or media production environment.
- Problem solver and lateral thinker, with strong attention to detail.
- Good written and spoken communicator.
- Capable of working under minimal supervision.
- Capable of hybrid (home & office) working in a global team.

- Cloud-based technologies, specifically AWS
- Experience with system management tools like Azure, Intune, jamff, Active Directory
- IP Networking
- Windows OS
- Mac OSX
- Linux
- File Server Hardware Support
- Working knowledge of metadata workflows - databases, JSON, XML
- International travel when required
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a media company
- College degree, technical degree or equivalent experience is required
Compensation & Benefits: The anticipated total compensation for this position is $68,000 - $75,000, contingent on experience and other job-related factors. Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
