The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Newmarket, Ontario region. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading a small clerical team will be essential for this role. Major responsibilities
- This is a hands on role that oversees the activities of the accounting department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
- Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
- Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team
- Work closely with the entire leadership team to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
- Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
- Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
- Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
- Lead Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
- Produce financial reports to executive committee monthly
