Apply independent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate as clinical experience increases.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrates a competent level of knowledge, expertise and skill in Haematology and Transfusion.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a single-discipline or multidisciplinary team on a 24 hr / 7 day roster, on-call roster and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a Haematology and Transfusion service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
- Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.
- Well developed interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- A relevant degree (Medical Laboratory Science) in Science or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Availability to work a 24/7 roster including weekends and to be available for Oncall.
- While not mandatory, multidisciplinary experience would be well regarded.
