At Bluecurrent, safety is our priority and the H&S Lead has the responsibility to promote, develop and establish a positive safety culture across all elements of our Australian Business.
This is a newly created opportunity and will have one direct report, H&S Advisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that foster a culture that prioritises safety and wellbeing across the Australian operations.
- Ensure that staff at all levels of management are fully appraised and aware of their Health and Safety legal and moral obligations, and all associated Health and Safety Codes of Practice and Guidance.
- Translate Bluecurrent’s H&S strategy into concrete objectives and business plans for Bluecurrent in the Australian context.
- Represent the company’s H&S interests with external organisations, authorities, and government bodies.
- Provide expert H&S advice as the subject matter expert, as part of external tendering processes, acquisitions, and transactions.
- Ensure compliance with customer’s H&S requirements and provide improvement advice.
- Design, implement and lead industry forums for customers and retailers, highlighting process improvements for better safety outcomes.
- Regularly review, audit, and inspect H&S systems, providing continuous improvement feedback.
- Influence, coach, and mentor senior business leaders in the development of health, safety & wellbeing initiatives.
- Management of safety-related issues to increase H&S capabilities across the AU Operations and minimise work-related hazards, incidents, and accidents.
- Develop and drive implementation plans for the delivery and ongoing management of H&S activities.
- Participate in regular audits and risk assessment activities to ensure effective risk controls are in place.
- Provide support and facilitation for significant incident investigations, analysing the cause, implementing corrective actions and translating this into training needs across the business, as required.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and programs that promote a safe, healthy and productive work environment.
- Establish minimum standards for H&S and Quality for our sub-contractors and processes to measure their compliance.
- Provide oversight for internal risk and compliance activities.
- Develop and lead an annual program of audits.
- Establish processes and systems to ensure our subcontracted field services partners align with our incident management and reporting guidelines.
- Establish and monitor our audit regime for subcontracted field services.
- Ensure our subcontracted field services provider uphold our standards for health and safety and have appropriate reporting mechanisms in place.
Who we are looking for
You are degree qualified in H&S or related field with at least 10 years experience in Senior H&S Leadership roles.
Commercial business acumen is a must, with previous bid preparation, tenders and acquisitions experience, with a proven track record in driving commercial successes through customer-centric strategies and initiatives.
You are an influential leader with strong communication skills with proven skills in stakeholder management.
You have significant experience writing, reviewing, developing and delivering Health and Safety strategies and plans.
Electrical industry or similar experience is highly desirable along with an understanding of electrical safety regulations.
