The Donor Relations Manager is part of the Development team and is responsible for implementing the donor relations strategy in conjunction with the Director of Development. The Donor Relations Manager will manage the execution of all development related activities, with a specific on maintaining and developing planned giving donor pipelines, while also supporting direct response initiatives that contribute to an increasing revenue stream for the organization. The Donor Relations Manager also provides administrative support to the development team to ensure effective data management and reporting and donor stewardship efforts (acknowledgments, meeting requests, printed materials).
The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a positive can-do attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and assess an overall donor relations strategy that supports the short- and long-term fundraising goals in conjunction with the Director of Development and Director of Individual Giving.
- Support the Director of Development in all aspects of special events, including pre-and post-event planning, entering and tracking donors, creating thank you letters, etc.
- Manage day-to-day donation entries and corresponding donor acknowledgment letters.
- Promote planned giving programs in direct mail, newsletters, and other organizational publications and communications.
- Research and implement new processes for database and event tracking efficiency.
- Establish and manage information-tracking processes regarding acknowledgment, recognition, ongoing communications, and continued cultivation of past and current donors to enhance their relationship with Union Settlement and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
- Provide support for additional development-related administrative tasks (lists, reports, etc.)
- Coordinate with the finance department to ensure records are complete and accurate.
- Other duties as instructed by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred
- Experience with Salesforce fundraising software
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong writing skills, including the ability to proofread and edit content
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable engaging with individual donors and sponsors.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the mission of Union Settlement.
- Willingness to learn and try new things.
- Must have a sense of humor.
- Experience as a volunteer a plus.
- Knowledge of the East Harlem community is strongly preferred.
