Head of Power Systems Networks apply now
STATUS: Full Time (37.5 hours per week), Permanent SALARY: Competitive and flexible based on experience and qualifications.
LOCATION: Glasgow or Manchester THE POSITION The transformation for the energy sector in the UK and around the world is one of the most exciting engineering challenges of our times. At TNEI we are at the centre of this transformation, advising and working with network companies, regulators, governments and developers.
The TNEI Group has expanded significantly over the past 3 years in terms of revenue, profitability, colleague numbers and offices around the world. TNEI's Networks and Innovation team has played a significant role in that development, with specialist studies in network planning and design, data analysis, and the development of innovative planning tools and services. We will be continuing to expand and grow the team to keep pace with the growth in this sector.
We are seeking to appoint a full-time Head of Networks to lead this development and growth. The successful candidate will have technical expertise in power system planning and analysis and a good understanding of the GB power system. This role is suited to an experienced power systems engineer with management experience who is keen to lead, develop and inspire a growing team of ambitious engineers.
Duties and responsibilities include: - Department management fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Business development and client relationship management to:
- Identify new business opportunities and areas for growth
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of work for the department
- Foster continuing good relationships with our existing clients and understand their current and future needs
- Participate in industry forums and events
- Growing and developing the team, including:
- Mentoring and development of team members
- Recruitment and training to ensure the department has the resources and skills to deliver for our clients
- Giving guidance and advice in project management and technical delivery of the work.
- Strategic planning and development, including:
- Staying abreast of industry trends and developments
- Being an integral part of the teams annual strategic planning and delivery of the agreed plan.
REQUIREMENTS Essential requirements include:
- 8+ years of experience working in the regulated energy industry
- Prior experience of working in a consultancy environment or procuring those services as a client
- Proven track record in leading and managing technical teams
- Experience in business development and client facing activities
- Ability to engage with clients, forming long term and mutually beneficial relationships
- Commercial awareness of consultancy projects, including setting and adhering to project budgets, scrutiny and understanding of contractual obligations, and identification and mitigation of commercial risks.
