Description:
Iowa Orthopedic Center is actively seeking a motivated OR RN to join our team at our new, state of the art Ambulatory Surgery Center opening in Grimes, IA. In this role, you will care for patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric, and be an integral team member providing surgical support for all bone, muscle, joint and spine cases. This role offers a dynamic and team-oriented environment focused on mutual support and improvement of patient outcomes.

In this role you will:
- Prepare and evaluate patients preoperatively in an efficient and caring manner to provide for a smooth patient flow throughout their experience.
- Review chart (including but not limited to H&P, labs, testing) immediately preoperatively to ensure completeness, including surgical and anesthesia consents.
- Maintains knowledge of equipment and stays abreast of current perioperative nursing trends.
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with staff, physicians, patients, families and other ancillary team members.
- Conduct assessments according to facility guidelines.
- Prepare for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia, and other surgical team members.
- Provide a safe environment for patient and staff by implementing standards of aseptic technique and by controlling the physical and psychological aspects of that environment.
- Circulate cases independently as assigned.
- Provides airway management assistance when applicable.
- Ongoing physiological assessment through all phases of the surgical experience, including medication and pain management.
- Participate in the performance improvement process. Assists with regulatory compliance throughout the organization.
- Demonstrate competence in specified computer applications.
- Adhere to all Joint Commission standards and CMS Rules and Regulations.
Hours: Monday - Friday, day shift
Requirements:
The ideal candidate for this position has:
- R.N. with license to practice in State of Iowa
- OR nursing experience, preferred
- Mandatory reporting course within previous 3 years
- Maintains BCLS qualification
- Knowledge of perioperative services and patient education desired
- Maintains ACLS qualification, or obtains within 6 months of hire
- Excellent documentation skills
- IV skill preferred
