Core Responsibilities
This role is part of the LEGO Group’s China & APAC Legal team and will be reporting to the Legal Director of APAC.
The main focus is to provide business-enabling legal services with a business partnering attitude to support the sales and marketing operations in the APAC region.
Under the guidance of the leader, this includes:
Supporting on legal tasks in all areas of the law relevant to the LEGO Group, such as Commercial Law (with a focus on contracts), Employment law, Corporate Law and Intellectual Property
Responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts and advising internal collaborators on a variety of commercial legal issues that arise in commercial relationships
Supporting the workload of the APAC legal team and increase level and speed of delivery of legal services by tackling tasks initiated by the VP/GC, Legal Director, Snr Corporate Counsels, as well as the business in APAC Market Group
Acting as the point of contact in cases and relevant tasks, as requested by the senior lawyers in the team
Engaging with external partners and outside counsel on legal tasks as needed
Developing a legal business partnering approach
Being a strong contributing member of the China & APAC Legal Team
As a secondary focus, participate in legal projects and support within other regions, such as China

This position can be a “stepping-stone” for mid level lawyers or highly skilled specialists, who are capable of solving sophisticated legal support tasks, and who want to develop further in the Legal Department at the LEGO Group.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross functional legal team in a matrix organisation
A broad legal support profile with experience in supporting many different legal areas
Deliver efficient service, as well as make valuable contributions to our business collaborators in their daily work.

The right candidate for this position is a person:
Proven legal background and minimum 4-6 years PQE of relevant commercial & business support experience
Consistent record and deep functional knowledge in at least 2 out of our 3 main areas –Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Employment Law or Intellectual Property.
Self motivated, a great teammate, critical thinker, ability to adapt to changes, uncertainties as well as being proactive to react to urgent and immediate business and legal requests.
Highly collaborative business partnering and curious mentality with a “can do” approach.
Keen to learn and be involved in new tasks/areas. where engaging directly with the business and keeping relevant shareholders in the loop should come naturally for this person, as well as the willingness to learn and following through on tasks.
Do you have what it takes:
Law School Degree (J.D.,LL.B, LL.M. or equivalent) from a recognised university
Admitted to the Singapore Bar
Minimum 4-6 years PQE legal experience with a reputable law firm and/or relevant commercial and business support experience in an in-house role at a global company
An appetite for and ability to learn new skills, as well as the willingness to follow-through on tasks
Highly collaborative, with a curious attitude and a “can do” approach
Professional appearance and demeanor
Highly engaged; enjoys fun activities and interacting with the team, those sponsored by the company, or as part of our community engagement program
Previous experience working with government authorities in one or more countries within the APAC Region
Experience in training the business on various legal topics
Some travel may be expected, likely not to exceed 30 days per year
