SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Sr. Records Specialist position will perform specialized duties associated with maintaining and archiving vital construction records and drawings. This position is responsible for imaging, digitally repairing and maintaining historical railroad design documents as well as researching and filling information requests across multiple engineering disciplines including Bridges, Stations, Facilities, Track, Electric Traction and Communications & Signals. This position will be responsible for managing all reference materials within the Archives and will assist with curating document sets for integration with Amtrak’s GIS Asset Map. The Engineering Archives team is part of the Planning and Engineering Support group with the Engineering Services department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Responsible for imaging, reviewing, and digitally repairing historical design drawings.
· Electronic indexing and archiving drawings and other railroad construction-related documents
· Responsible for curation of archived drawing and document sets for integration onto Amtrak’s GIS Asset Map.
· Perform extensive research across multi-disciplinary engineering databases for archived construction drawings, correspondence, and reports.
· Fill requests for information within required timelines.
· Ensure all digital and physical documents within the Archives are maintained according to strict preservation policies and guidelines.
· Mentor junior staff.
· Support the Engineering Archives and Engineering Support team leadership as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Archiving, Digital Technology or related field.
· 3-6 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience is needed
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Pro, Lightroom and Photoshop.
· Detail-oriented with constructive problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
· Ability to work under time constraints with hard deadlines.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize heavy workloads.
· Good organizational and communication skills.
· Quickly understands and uses processes and technologies that are continually being updated.
· Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be a team player.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Knowledge of railroad construction design processes.
· Ability to read and understand railroad infrastructure design documents.
· Knowledge of ApplicationXtender and MasterWorks databases.
WORK ENVRIORNMENT:
· Hybrid main office and work from home.
· Railroad right-of-way and/or project site visits may be required occasionally for short durations, based on department and/or specific project need.
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary/hourly range is $78,600-$101,844, Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
