POSITION SUMMARY:
The Benefits Intern supports Amtrak’s Benefits Wealth team’s, year-end, and weekly administrative processes. Theposition will provide meaningful and valuable experience with the communication, technological, andimplementation components of managing and administering benefit wealth programs.
The position reports to Sr. Manager, Benefits Additional Mentors: Sr. Benefits Analyst
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in the implementation and day to day administration of benefit programs including 401(k), HSA, andother benefits wealth offerings.
- Assists with the development of wealth related communications including, newsletters, postcards, and internalemail alerts.
- Learn HRIS systems (SAP, Vendor systems) to assist with 401k and Health & Welfare administration
- Proofreads and edits communications
- Supports weekly updating of HR and/or vendor systems for weekly enrollment changes, year-end datacompliance, system upgrades and enhancements
- Develops written materials to document processes, provide reference materials, and convey information toappropriate parties
- Assists Benefit COEs with problem resolution and handles benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure quick,equitable, and courteous resolution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
- Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Business Analytics, ComputerScience, Data Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Operations Research, HR Management, Business or related field.
- Must have at least 2 years of academic undergraduate studies completed or a junior status at minimum.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Moderate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
- Customer service focus and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn and use multiple HR systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
Summer 2025 internship program will run from May 19th - August 8, 2025.
