workability Pauses Job Board Services Amid Uncertainty Around Phantom Job Postings

You’ve probably heard stories like this from the news: a newly minted college graduate submits hundreds of job applications online and never hears back from the companies to which they applied.

Does anyone -- a real live human being who is a recruiter -- actually ever see these applications? Or has AI "sorted" them into a virtual waste basket?

Sadly, this has become the reality of the job search process.

As a result, we at workability.one have decided to pause our job board offerings until such a time that a “real” and “robust” job market re-emerges. Ironically, we once wrote a blog post advising job seekers not to ghost their prospective employers. We never imagined the degree to which it would be the other way around.

In the meantime, if you’re a job seeker, we invite and encourage you to create a job seeker profile.

If you’re an inclusive recruiter or talent acquisition professional, we invite you to peruse the hundreds of job seeker profiles that have been created on our neurodivergent-friendly job board since we launched in January 2022. We've removed the firewall, and these profiles are now readily accessible, because we intend to continue advocating for neurodivergent job seekers and we know you'll find highly educated, well-qualified candidates among our collective profiles.

If you're an employer, we have a suggestion -- try applying for a job on your own website and see what the process feels like when you're asked to record your interview responses, or chat with an AI bot about your experience and qualifications. Or, how does it feel when you don't hear anything back at all?

Despite these challenges, we remain optimistic. This doesn’t mean the end, it’s just a pause for now, until opportunities for job seekers become real again. In the meantime, we leave you with some career advice from an article in the New York Times.

This Is a Hard Time to Start a Career. These Two Words Can Help.

Advice on building a rewarding work life, even amid employment gloom.
