Why is this role important to us:
The Site Reliability Engineer Lead (SRE Lead) will oversee a team of SRE’s to proactively ensure the stability, resilience and scale of our services by automation, testing and engineering. To build on expertise from Product teams’ systems/operations, cloud infrastructure (Azure), build and release engineering, software development and stress/load testing to make sure our services are available, cost optimized and fit for purpose early in the development lifecycle.
The SRE Lead will also work alongside the development, architecture and service management teams, to ensure technical solutions are aligned to SimCorp’s architectural principles and designs, that deliver value to our customers as well as ensuring consistent monitoring, logging and alerting.
The SRE Lead reports into the Lead Product Owner, APAC and is responsible for building capability and maturing operational ways of working across multiple cross-function delivery teams, with focus on technical quality and a high-performance culture.
What you will be responsible for:
- Provide leadership and guidance across the SRE team, acting as a subject matter expert and leading best SRE practice techniques.
- To lead the SRE team in ensuring technical assurance in significant projects, for the delivery of quality technical deliverables, which may involve several teams or technologies.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to the SRE team to improve their skillset, increase knowledge and set the benchmark of quality and precision engineering.
- Knowledge sharing and education of team members to enable them to contribute to backlog items related to infrastructure provisioning, monitoring and best practice.
- Manage and troubleshoot pipelines for client onboarding within the Azure platform.
- Understand Platform-As-A-Service (PaaS) platform and align client requirements to existing features.
- Identify, define and scope new features when necessary.
- Collaborate with clients to optimize scheduled jobs to be event driven using an enterprise scheduler.
- Participate in problem management for Azure technology platform.
- Provide weekend support as needed to ensure platform availability.
- Work effectively within an Agile team to deliver complex onboarding programs in a sprint-based approach.
- Perform configuration Management and Disaster Recovery tasks on a new environment.
- Evaluate risks and defects, analyzing specifications, and customizing applications for specific customer needs.
- Continuously review capabilities and roles critical to evolving DevOps and quality assurance practices and be responsible for the acquisition, development and maturity of these.
- Responsible for producing and maintaining documentation relating to application design, integration processes, testing procedures, and deployment approach as well as working with teams to create operational run and playbooks.
- To work with stakeholders in the other business units to produce and maintain standards, guidelines, and pattern catalogue.
- To take highly complex and manual processes and work to simplify and automate them.
- To lead and influence teams to ensure quality and operational quality, and to ensure teams are aligned to design patterns and design collateral.
What we value:
- Ideally 10 years or more operational experience with troubleshooting mission-critical software systems. Experience in financial services industry is advantageous.
- Experience in DevOps implementation and in evolving practices and ways of working through multi-disciplinary teams, business frameworks and culture.
- Has good project management background and experience in leading technology change programmes.
- An individual who can perform highly in a multi-faceted role – facets that include a very comprehensive technical knowledge, and awareness of emergent trends.
- Hands-on experience with Public Cloud environments, primarily Azure, AWS Exposure is great. Certification is advantageous.
- Solid understanding/experience of networking, virtualization, storage, secrets management, messaging and serverless computing.
- Experience with Linux and Windows systems, ideally with experience in systems administration.
- Experience Using Command line (CLI) style interfaces.
- Experience working with Windows and Linux Containers (focus currently on Windows).
- Highly proficient with Ansible, Terraform and Azure.
- Expert in Logging and Monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Grafana).
- A very good communicator, able to lead and facilitate discussions across many tiers in SimCorp including functions like architecture, technical specialists, business analysis, team leaders, senior management group, and executives.
- Ability to get up to speed with domain knowledge.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps for deployment automation, especially Jenkins.
- Operational experience in maintaining applications.
