Support Officer – Vessel Operations
Location: ACT, NSW, VIC
Contract Length: 12 months with 2 X 12 months option to extend
Eligibility/Security Requirement: Australian Citizenship
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Coordinator Safety Data, the Support Officer Incidents will be responsible for compiling the Agency’s safety data records, ensuring their accuracy and completeness, and assisting in analysis and reporting on this data.
Pre-requisites Required
- Attention to detail
- Demonstrated competency using Microsoft Office suite of applications, particularly Excel
- General understanding of records management systems
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Provide support for the triaging of all incident reports received by the Agency under legislative and other requirements – including verification of the severity classification of incidents
- Create and maintain incident database records, ensuring the accuracy and completeness
- Code incidents using the Occurrence Framework to reflect what happened in the incident as a key input into identifying safety trends and issues
- Extract and assist with the analysis of Agency’s maritime incident data in combination with inspection and investigation data from various systems
- Monitor, assist and oversee responses to incidents and associated communications and ensure that this is reflected in the incident records
- Provide timely briefs and information to Operations management
- Prepare regular and ad hoc internal and external incident data reports as required
- Assist with the development, review and update of internal and external guidance material relevant to Vessel Operations
