Eden Ritchie is seeking a Chief Financial Officer who will oversee the financial functions and systems and provide strategic financial advice and support to the office as well as lead and coordinate procurement and risk management functions.
- 2 month contract with possible extension
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the annual budget and monthly forecasts, making sure they are in line with the office's strategic goals and operational priorities complying with the legislative framework and policies.
- Oversee financial reporting, accounting, auditing, taxation, and payroll functions so they are accurate and timely.
- Oversee asset management, including the maintenance of asset registers and arranging asset replacements and purchases, sales, and valuations.
- Oversee cash flow and banking arrangements, ensuring enough funds to meet operational needs and obligations.
- Ensure financial systems are suitable, secure, and up to date, and offer training and support to staff on how to use them.
- Analyse and explain financial data and trends, identify issues and risks, and provide reliable and timely advice and suggestions on fiscal matters and decisions.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls and provide guidance and direction to staff on how to apply them.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent the Office in financial discussions and consultations.
- Provide the organisation’s leadership team with fiscal and budgetary expertise to achieve Office’s strategic goals.
- Prepare and present financial reports, submissions, and briefings ensuring they are clear and accurate.
- Develop, implement and oversee procurement and contract management framework and practices, ensuring they align with the Queensland Procurement Policy and the Office's strategic goals and operational needs.
- Develop and implement the risk management framework and practices aligned to the AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 standard and the Office's risk appetite and tolerance.
- Oversee risk management, including identifying, assessing, treating, and reporting on strategic and operational risks, and ensuring appropriate risk mitigation strategies and controls are in place and monitored.
Role Requirements:
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in financial management, accounting, auditing, taxation, and payroll, preferably in a public sector context, and the ability to apply relevant legislation, standards, policies, and best practices to ensure effective and efficient financial functions and systems.
- Demonstrated high-level skills in financial analysis, interpretation, and reporting, as well as the ability to provide sound and timely advice and recommendations on complex and sensitive financial matters and decisions to senior managers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high-level skills in procurement and contract management and the ability to plan, execute, and monitor procurement processes and outcomes, ensuring value for money, probity, and transparency, and managing contract performance, compliance, and risks.
- Demonstrated high-level skills in using financial systems and software relevant to the role and the ability to maintain, improve, and troubleshoot financial systems and processes, as well as provide training and support to staff on their use.
- Demonstrated high-level skills in leading and managing a financial function, including providing effective leadership, direction, and supervision.
