Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) was created with the vision and purpose to make nuclear waste permanently safe, sooner. We bring together the UK’s leading nuclear waste management capabilities and our mission is to be the ‘one-stop shop’ for all radioactive waste management and disposal solutions for the UK. We are a key part of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group, with the collective long-term mission to clean up nuclear sites sustainably, safely, and securely.
Position: HR Director
We seek to appoint a permanent HR Director to help us realise our vision. Reporting to our Corporate Services Director, you will be a key pillar in both our leadership team and the broader NDA group HR community.
Responsibilities:
- Support our CSD to implement corporate decisions and initiatives – such as developing our long-term strategic vision and integrated people strategy.
- Inspire and develop your HR teams – ensuring resilience, consistency, and quality whilst maintaining our ability to recruit, attract, retain, and develop great talent.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders – including the NWS board, trades unions, regulators, and the NDA group – to deliver critical programmes and projects, notably the standardisation of our colleagues' employment terms and conditions.
You will need to be open, approachable and resilient – willing to invest in building relationships and trust whilst retaining the candour to challenge the status quo, when necessary, and influence senior stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Professionally recognised HR qualification, underpinned by Chartered Membership of CIPD.
- Operational HR leadership experience in a complex, multi-discipline/matrix style organisation – requiring strong employee relations expertise.
- Experience in strategic initiatives and planning with clear evidence of leading and successfully completing change programmes.
