DescriptionPerforms diagnostic echocardiograms on adults and pediatric patients.
Requirements EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Two year allied health education program that is patient care related. Allied health occupations include but are not limited to: diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist and/or registered nurse preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible or comparable national accreditation required. BLS certification issued through American Heart Association within six months of hire.
SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively, demonstrates strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with others from a variety of disciplines. Ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions. Manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of actively doing echocardiograms preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Director of Cardiovascular Services
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne pathogen C
May be exposed to physical injury, infectious diseases and airborne and blood borne pathogens. Requires knowledge of safety standards to limit exposure to infectious diseases.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifting patients, pushing heavy equipment, beds, and carts.
