DescriptionThe Cardiovascular Sonographer will perform diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound studies and provides written technical impressions to assist cardiologists with interpretations.
RequirementsEDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Two year allied health education program that is patient care related or Certification from a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Program.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Certification; or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) Certification required, or Registered Vascular Tech (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS). Dual registry in cardiac and vascular highly preferred.
SKILLS: Must possess strong organizational, time management, detail and communication skills; the ability to prioritize projects and work in a fast paced, frequently crisis driven environment. Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, and typing. Must be able to provide complicated information in a clear and concise manner to those not familiar with the information being provided. Bilingual in Spanish or local Native languages a plus. Ability to work collaboratively with others from a variety of disciplines. Data collection, problem solving, and decision making skills required.
EXPERIENCE: Two years experience performing 2D, stress, and dobutamine stress echocardiograms preferred.

May be exposed to physical injury, infectious diseases and airborne and blood borne pathogens. Requires knowledge of safety standards to limit exposure to infectious diseases.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
On a regular basis: Sitting, fingering or manual dexterity as in the use of computer; filing and sorting documents; repetitive finger motion as in typing or computer use; converse with public using the spoken and written word, to hear and see those for which there is interaction; work with documents formatted using small print and complicated grids.
On a frequent basis: Distance and peripheral vision.
On an occasional basis: Ability to walk and stand; lift or exert force up to 10 pounds, reach or stretch; crouch and stoop; depth perception, and exposure to loud noise levels.
