DescriptionResponsible for providing technical assistance under the direct supervision and direction of the operating surgeon. The primary patient population is adults, but may provide care to patients of all ages. Performs the usual functions pertaining to the perioperative experience, but in addition performs a number of intraoperative functions which may include: Handling tissue, providing exposure, using instruments, suturing and providing homeostasis.
RequirementsEDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited program for Surgical Scrub Tech
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current Surgical Scrub Tech certification, Certified Surgical First Assist certification, BLS required.
SKILLS:
- Specific knowledge of surgical procedures
- Extensive communication skills, team building skills, surgical assisting and instrumentation skills.
EXPERIENCE: Surgical Scrub Tech minimum 2 years with CSFA certification
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: CSV surgical services

Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know. Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital. Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Intermittent physical effort such as walking, standing, sitting and those activities involved with patient care. Occasional pushing, pulling, and lifting. Flexibility in scheduling required.
