PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Specialist Receivables Support will support senior leadership and protect company assets by ensuring compliance with corporate accounting requirements. This position leads and maintains the financial reporting, budgeting and planning processes for the Accounts Receivable management team in US and MX.
This position is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba or Kansas City, MO.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Providing oversight and support for month-end-close accounting activities, including the preparation of key performance metrics and timely balance sheet explanations
- Reviewing and certifying customer accounts receivable general ledgers (GLs) to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Collaborating with internal and external audit partners to evaluate and ensure the efficiency of Coordinated Controls Framework (CCF) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) control environments
- Ensuring the timely review and submission of monthly reconciliations and adjustments to budget and forecast bad debt expense (AFDA) accounts and Provision for Sales Reversal (PFSR)
- Developing and presenting financial statement notes and AR Balance Sheet explanations for period variances in Workiva
- Leading data cleansing initiatives to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and relevance for financial analysis and reporting
- Proposing and implementing process improvements based on standard methodologies and technological advancements to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in accounting from an accredited university or college with a preference for completion of professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
- 3-8 years of extensive experience in finance and accounting, budgeting , auditing, credit and collections, with a strong focus on process improvement
- Ability to showcase experience and exposure to control methodologies such as ICF and SOX
- Shown proficiency in leading trend analysis, interpretation, and providing recommendations to mitigate financial risks associated with Accounts Receivables
- Experience with Mexican Accounting and Tax regulations or Railroad or Logistics or Transportation industry is considered an asset
