Job Summary: The bank is currently seeking a highly skilled and collaborative individual to join our team as a Credit Risk Review Officer. In this role, you will be an integral part of a team responsible for assessing and evaluating credit risk management practices, internal controls, and governance processes within the bank's Wholesale and Wealth Management Credit Risk portfolios. You will provide independent and objective risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and bank policies. Your insights and recommendations will contribute to improving the overall effectiveness of credit risk management and drive sustainable shareholder value.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Credit Risk Review (CRR) team to execute large-scale and complex engagements that have a strategic impact on the organization.
- Adapt to a dynamic work environment and demonstrate an analytical mindset while supporting the successful completion of reviews and projects.
- Assist senior management within the CRR team by effectively communicating progress, challenges, and opportunities for self-development and learning.
- Implement credit risk reviews aligned with regulatory and bank policies, focusing on Wholesale Credit Risk and Wealth Management portfolios.
- Support Examiners in Charge (EIC) and Directors in executing risk-based annual plans and reporting to senior stakeholders in Global Risk Management (GRM-Credit) and business units.
- Identify and report potential weaknesses at the borrower and portfolio levels, considering changes in regulatory and business environments, and recommend appropriate remediation plans.
- Conduct credit reviews and continuous monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of credit risk underwriting, risk management practices, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal and external clients to identify, document, and resolve risks impacting the loan portfolio.
- Engage with GRM-Credit Management and business units to evaluate risk rating processes, credit risk frameworks, and emerging issues.
- Challenge management effectively, develop action plans to address identified observations, deficiencies, and risk rating changes, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Provide consulting and advisory services, as well as perform special tasks requested by key stakeholders to enhance risk management controls and governance processes.
- Assess the effectiveness of risk management strategies across the three lines of defense units, fostering collaboration and driving improvement.
Data Analytics and Technology: Continuously enhance understanding of key and emerging credit risks to enable the adoption of data analytics in credit risk review processes. Identify opportunities for the effective utilization of data analytics and visualization tools in Wholesale and Wealth Management credit risk management.
Relationship Building and Client Experience: Engage stakeholders, including Team Members, Executives, Regulators, and External Auditors, through ongoing reviews, discussions, and reporting. Participate in high-impact situations and escalate enterprise observations/issues to CRR management when necessary. Make recommendations with significant impacts on ongoing reviews and negotiate effectively to achieve desired outcomes. Handle sensitive situations through conflict management approaches. Communicate credit risk trends to senior management and collaborate with the three lines of defense units and Internal Audit colleagues when required.
Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- 7+ years of experience in Credit Analysis, ideally within Wholesale Credit/Leveraged Lending
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field, such as Economics, Finance, Accounting, etc.
- CFA or MBA preferred, including those currently studying for CFA or in MBA program
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and interact with various internal and external stakeholders
Job Offer
The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $185,000, based on factors such as experience, skills, and market conditions. It does not include other elements of total compensation, such as bonuses and benefits (401(k) program, insurance coverage, paid time-off plan).
