PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As Communications Advisor you will develop accurate, relevant and compelling internal and external communications. This incudes but is not limited to speaking engagements, presentations, publications, videos and digital/web in support of CPKC's reputation, credibility and investment value among key stakeholder groups such as; employees, customers, shareholders/investors, media and the general public. This position is part of a small but dynamic team to provide trustworthy, relevant and engaging content targeted at 20,000 railroaders across three countries in three languages so they can stay informed. The internal communications team works with Marketing and Brand teams to create an engaging content calendar across all channels, with select lines of business within the company to coordinate network-wide broadcasts, and to evaluate internal channel performance to inform strategic storytelling.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manage key internal and other communications strategies and initiatives
- Support the development of various corporate communications and to support internal and external channels
- Support internal and external campaign development through conceptualization and copywriting
- Develop corporate messaging, marketing and corporate content for publications such as, intranet, employee communications app, employee magazine, social channels and web, coordinating common messaging and corporate positions to ensure a consistent internal and external story, image and brand
- Manage photo and video content creation, including the development of concepts for visual and written components: story outline/script writing, shot lists/storyboarding, budget and communications planning
- Collaborate with team members to ensure key messaging on corporate initiatives are communicated accurately and timely
- Use creatively to enhance communications and drive employee engagement
- Maintain CPKC’s values while preparing messaging and ensure communications are inclusive
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Possesses a communications/journalism/marketing degree or post-secondary equivalent.
- 5+ experience in corporate communications or business/financial journalism
- Strong writing and information processing ability.
- Knowledge of business and financial communications.
- Knowledge of rail or transportation industry would be considered an asset.
- Professionalism in engaging at an executive level.
- Proven coordination skills, comfortable coordinating individuals at all levels in the organization.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships.
- Capable of advising on the development of visual design/creative
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online is an asset
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a high-functioning, deadline-driven, team environment.
- Skilled researcher and fact checker
- Highly organized and attention to detail
- Position involves a mix of creative, strategic, and project management responsibilities aimed at enhancing our corporate brand and engaging our audience

Management Conductor Program:
