Our client is seeking a hands-on Director of Finance to join their organization in Ottawa, Ontario. The role involves overseeing the financial activities, strategy, and operations of the organization. The workplace offers a hybrid model to facilitate collaboration. This role is essential in aligning the company's finance and accounting processes to industry standards and legal compliance.
Responsibilities:
-Assist in the formulation and execution of the corporate financial strategy.
-Oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance team, ensuring alignment with industry standards and legal compliance.
-Establish and manage departmental controls, financial forecasting, budgets, and cost centers.
-Lead the annual financial planning and quarterly review processes, and assess the company's financial performance and potential risks.
-Develop and implement financial policies, systems, standards, and procedures.
-Manage capital asset acquisition to ensure each asset is properly recorded and amortized, and disposed of when necessary.
-Recognize patterns in company spending and revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas.
-Implement Internal Controls for Financial Reporting (ICFR).
-Assist in Fundraising Support and manage Non-Dilutive Funding (SRED, IRAP, CanExport, Hiring and Other Grants).
-Handle investment activities to minimize cash balances, limit risk, and maximize return on investments.
-Supervise the financial management staff, fostering a positive work environment and taking corrective action when necessary.
