Job Description
Are you passionate about building robust, scalable data foundations? Join our team and help us develop a solid data platform on Databricks that powers the Finance organization with reliable, high-quality data — driving efficiency and better decision-making across the CFO organization.
Please note: The Data Engineer role is at Lead Professional level and the Sr. Data Engineer is at Manager Specialist level. We do not support relocation.
Core Responsibilities
You will be part of a team driving scalable, reliable data solutions for either Compliance, External Reporting & Business Service Organization teams or Finance Partnering & FP&A teams. Your role will include:
Build and maintain a robust data foundation on the Databricks platform, designing and implementing dimensional data warehouse models that ensure high data reliability, quality, and accessibility across the Finance organization.
Develop automated, standardized data pipelines using SQL and Python, minimizing manual reporting efforts and ensuring consistent data delivery.
Strengthen critical finance processes by implementing accurate, automated data models — including star and snowflake schemas — that support financial reporting, planning, and compliance in external reporting (e.g., ESG, Consolidation).
Equip CFO organization functions with the right data and tools, enabling them to focus on strategic priorities and enhancing the value of financial data across the LEGO Group.
Lay the groundwork for advanced analytics by building well-structured, modeled data infrastructure that can support future Generative AI and Machine Learning capabilities.
Play Your Part in Our Team Succeeding
The LEGO Group is transforming into a data-driven organization, and within Finance, we aim to lead the way. We are integrating data insights into all financial operations to enable informed, strategic decisions.
You will be part of the Corporate Finance, Systems, Analytics, and Insights team, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of financial data across the organization. This role is critical to strengthening our data foundations, consolidating data sources, and supporting digital transformation initiatives within Finance.
Do You Have What It Takes?
Sr. Data Engineer (Manager Specialist Level)
We are seeking a skilled and experienced data engineer with a strong technical background. You should bring:
Strong SQL expertise is essential. You write efficiently, complex queries and understand data modeling deeply.
Solid experience with dimensional data warehouse modeling — you have hands-on experience designing and building star schemas with fact and dimension tables and understand concepts like slowly changing dimensions (SCDs), conformed dimensions, and grain definition.
Proficiency in Python for data processing, transformation, and pipeline development.
Hands-on experience with Databricks or similar lakehouse/data platform technologies (e.g., Spark, Delta Lake, medallion architecture).
Proven experience building and maintaining data pipelines and reliable data infrastructure at scale.
Understanding of data governance, including data quality, compliance, and adherence to standards.
Nice to have:
Experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools.
Experience automating routine reporting and data processes.
Background in Finance Insights & Analytics, Finance Partnering & FP&A, or Compliance and Business Services.
Experience managing cross-functional projects and coordinating across diverse teams.
Data Engineer (Lead Professional Level)
You bring a background in data engineering, analytics, or a related field. You may have a couple of years of experience or be a recent graduate with strong foundational skills. You should bring:
Strong SQL skills — you're comfortable writing queries and working with relational data.
Understanding of dimensional data warehouse modeling concepts — you know the difference between fact and dimension tables, understand star schemas, and are eager to deepen your modeling expertise.
Proficiency in Python or a willingness to develop strong Python skills quickly.
Interest in or exposure to data platform technologies such as Databricks, Spark, or similar tools.
Eagerness to learn and grow within a data-driven Finance organization.
Nice to have:
Hands-on experience building dimensional models in a professional or academic setting.
Experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools.
Familiarity with data governance principles.
For Both Roles
It will be an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have experience in Finance Insights & Analytics, Finance Partnering & FP&A, or Compliance and Business Services. A background in managing cross-functional projects, coordinating across diverse teams, and ensuring timely execution would also be valuable.
